Last Friday Tyler had his 15 month check up. Well I’d love to tell you that he has had a huge growth spurt, BUT he actually has only gained 6 ounces since 1 year check up?!?!? Crazy. I tell you that kid must burn absolutely everything he eats, cuz he eats like a champ and a petite little thing. Tyler weighed in at 22.6 lbs and measure 30 inches putting him in the 12th and 14th percentiles. Tyler is not a fan of hats so he would not sit still for the nurse or Dr. Conner for head circumference. Oh well.
While we were at the doctor’s Friday he had already had a cold for like a week and checked out fine. Yesterday was another story. He had a cough that progressively got worse this weekend and yesterday we BOTH stayed home as Tyler decided to share his cold. So I made us both appointments. I had a sore throat and wanted to get the clear on Strep before going to work and Tyler’s cough worsening was excuse enough to bring him in. The second she looks in his ear….. ANOTHER EAR INFECTION. Oh this poor kid! So he is on antibiotic again and already seemed better this morning and I have had no calls from daycare, so we shall see.
I know it’s been a long time since I have updated on Tyler, so this will be long. I understand if you have already stopped reading – haha!
Words – Tyler is getting better at “using his words” but every time he gets sick, it’s another set back. His most used words are: Mama, Dada, Ball, Go, Up, Down, All done, All gone, Herego, Ankyou, Ock!, Poop, ‘Side, Nana(banana not grandma), ‘Ara (for Sara the dog) and once in a while I can get a please out of him. Not too shabby. What make me really excited is that he REALLY seems to be understanding us more. The other day he dumped his blocks out and when I asked him to put them away he picked them up one by one and back in the bucket they went. And most people know he is a huge Blue’s Clues fan, and now when Steve asks where the clue is he can pick it out on the screen. I caught him doing this by accident one day and just couldn’t believe it! He is still going to the gate when you ask him if he has “ock”/poop in his diaper or if you ask him if he is ready for a nap/bed.
With the nice weather last week we sure did take advantage. Tyler absolutely loves it outside and I just didn’t have the heart keep him cooped up! Monday night we went for a walk and went in our “backyard” and played with a ball, rocks anything he could get his hands on. Tuesday I took him to the park and we walked on the trail in the park and then I let him play on the play set there which is nice cuz it’s Tyler size so he could go up and down himself. I did take him down the “big” slide a couple times and he LOVED it!
He has been so happy and so much fun lately I am just so looking forward to what will hopefully be very fun summer of parks, beaches and camping! Oh, and I PROMISE to get some new pics on here soon!!!

Welcome Baby Eli!
Tonight Tyler got to meet his very brand new baby cousin. Elliot (Eli) Anthony Davis was born at 6:21 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2009. He weighed in at just 6 lbs and 14 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long. He has a VERY full head of dark thick hair and is adorable! Mom is doing well and both Yen and Tony are excited he is finally here! Tyler didn't really want to have anything to do with him. We sat on the couch there and he pointed to Eli and said "B" (for baby) and then said "dow' (down). I thought he might be jealous that I had another baby but there was too much to explore in that hospital room. Who says hospitals don't have entertainment?

Ock!
Well, I guess it was finally our turn to get the "crud" going around. It started on Saturday afternoon with myself. Out of the blue , I just did not feel well. Sure thing a little later I had lost what little lunch I had time to eat. I immediately felt better, so I figured I just ate something bad. Later that evening while out for a friend's birthday, I could barely even look at food, and finally ended up having Allen bring me home. After being home a while, the sickness had "doubled" (if you catch my drift) and was accompanied by fever of over 100 degrees.
Then next day Al let me stay in bed (rightfully so) and took care of Tyler. But in the early afternoon he came in the bedroom to let me no that Tyler just had a diarrhea diaper. GREAT.... I got up and moved to the couch. Tyler did pretty much nothing but sit or lay with me all day. He hardly ate anything, and lost what little he did, and the diapers continued. We stayed home Monday, and Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, he was acting a lot more normal - Yay! He's getting better! I took Tyler to daycare Wednesday and Thursday, and only had one diarrhea on Thursday and was eating agian. Well this morning after only 40 minutes at work, I got a phone call....... He ate just a few bites of breakfast then lost everything and soaked his clothes. YUCK! Needless to say we are at home again today.
For the most part he is acting pretty normal, and I have him on the BRAT diet with Pedialite to drink. His BMs are getting more solid so I am hoping this will help and he will be on the mend. I am told there is a strand of flu going around that last 1 week to 10 days. All you moms with little ones, be on the lookout!!! I hope you all are a lot healthier than us.

Back to Normal
Well, Tyler seems to be right back to his normal trouble-making old self. He has had more energy in each single day this past weekend than in the last 2 weeks combined! I am glad though. And very happy to have my baby back. You can tell that he is still having some congestion and drainage, and just a tinge of a cough here and there.
It has to be said that Tyler is a good time. Lately, if you grab his shoes to go "buh-bu" or change his diaper, he will just sit right down on the floor........ BUT not where you are at of course. But I don't care, cuz it is just too stinking cute!
During diaper changes, I've also noticed, once you have his pants (and sometime onsie) off he will start tugging at his diaper. Not sure if this is a boy thing, an all baby thing or a Tyler thing - ANYWAY, for whatever reason still makes me laugh. Then once you undo his diaper, he will start reaching for his "boy part". And he doesn't just touch it. Oh no. He grabs it, pulls it and squeezes it. Because of him doing this, even on poopy diapers, we have been telling him "ack" so he won't do it. Well of course now every time you undo his diaper he also sits there and goes "ack, ack, ack, ack". Then, to top it all off, since he won't stop touching himself, I've been telling him "penis" so he knows what he's dealing with down there. So yesterday, he's getting a diaper change, and start in with the "ack, ack, ack, ack". Then again with the touching. So I said "penis" and he looks at me (still has a hold of it) and says "pish" (or for those of you who don't speak Tylernese - penis) I about died laughing. I don't know why but it was hilarious. Later last night, I was finishing up some cookies for daycare, and of course Tyler was in the kitchen playing ring-around-the island, he stops...... grunts a couple times..... the says "uh-oh". And runs away. Allen asked "Did you go poo-poo?" and Tyler runs over to the gate and says "up!". Oh my - what a RIOT!
We had a very full-filling weekend. Friday, Tyler and I got to get our hair cut at Stacy's - boy is he NOT a fan of that. Saturday, Grandpa Davis stayed with Tyler while I went to kickboxing and Allen went to a side job. They must have had fun, because the BOTH looked tired when I got home! That afternoon, we helped celebrate the anticipated arrival of his new baby cousin Eli at Aunt Yen's baby shower. He seemed to have a good time - and the kid ate a whole egg roll by himself! Sunday, was shopping at the mall with Mommy. We were there for a long time, but he was good and when he got tired, laid right back a took a nap! YEAH!
Hope you all had a good weekend and can't wait for the next anecdote for you again!

More Illness
This is Tyler throwing things over the gate.
Mom, just give me the camera.
Oh yes, this is a nice one All by himself too.
A couple weeks ago we were sure Tyler had another ear infection, so I had a script called in. We began that 1 week ago Sunday. Well he acted fine, but congestion and runny nose were in full force. Saturday he woke up and you just knew he did not feel well. He would not eat any of his breakfast and then..... the puking came. Unfortunately for Allen, I was at kickboxing and did not get to witness, but it went all over the couch and floor. Tyler was napping when I got home. I cut out dairy for the rest of the day and most of Sunday. I also gave him some Tylenol, hoping that might help him at least feel better. He never puked again. However, the drainage was just a coming, and you could hear it in the cough. My best guess is that his tiny little tummy was just so full of drainage, it just had to come out. He was still a little off yesterday even with meds, but acted more like the regular bouncing off the walls Tyler.
On the plus side (and you know things will change once I post this) Tyler's vocabulary is back in bloom. Not only is he starting to use some of his words again, and has added a couple new ones. I have heard him say chair, blue, and book. There is still a lot of eh, eh, eh going on as well as the whining and temper tantrums, but I am just keeping the faith that this is only a phase.
Last week Tyler got 2 time outs - yes TWO! Wednesday we were playing and everything was fine and Tyler came and just smacked me right across the face. I have to admit, that it was really hard not to laugh, because it was funny, but I knew he needed to know that was not acceptable. Thursday, all 3 of us were playing and Tyler had his cup, then the cup got thrown at Daddy POINT BLANK. It was hard and loud, leaving a bump and bright red mark. So each time he got put in the time out spot for one minute and sat there the whole time too. Kinda surprised me.
Hopefully, this is just another phase.
