snow day!
So I'm a little late on this post - but, eh - ya know. Wednesday, February 3rd I had my first SNOW DAY since I graduated high school! Grand Rapids area had a snowzaster of a blizzard come through and leave us with FOURTEEN inches of snow - I think our backyard got more than that, or at least it looked like it. I was rather relieved when my work decided the day before they would not make us drive over the treacherous terrain to get there. Allen had been serving jury duty and even the court decided to close it's doors. I had a wonderful day off in the middle of the week to spend with the family. We didn't do much, and Allen spent pretty much ALL day shoveling the driveway after our snow blower decided not to work on us. But it didn't matter. It was a much welcomed break and we enjoyed our comfy clothes, fiesta soup and being couch potatoes all day!

"my name is Francesca and I'm a screamer"
Ok, so my name isn't really Francesca - but as much as I hate to admit it - the scream escapes me from time to time. The truth is for the working mom (and hey - prolly the stay-at-home mom too!) you've had a long stressful day and the last thing you want to hear is whining because some one has to go to the bathroom - SO GO ALREADY. Thankfully Tyler has a wonderful father who helps me keep it all together - an I for him is well. Funny how two parents can balance each other out.
But some times you both had a rotten day and it's up to Tyler to make us smile. As I sat in the computer chair this evening Tyler climbs in my lap and says "yee-haw - giddy up". I asked him if he was a cowboy, "Yes" he said. "Oh, well what's your cowboy name then" "Ummm - I dunno. But there's my horsey right over there!" As he points to Allen sitting on the couch. Oh, you might have had to been there - but it was pretty funny, and it made me smile and forget my whole day. How I love my life.

"hey mom.....I POOPED!"
Yes folks. It has finally happed. I think it is safe to say (finally with out jinxing myself) that Tyler is OFFICIALLY POTTY TRAINED! It really didn't take him long. About 1 week before his birthday we started switching to underwear and only a handful of accidents since. We had some road blocks with pooping for a bit (by the way - no one tells you how much you'll be cleaning poop from underwear - now you know) and after trying literally EVERY trick in the book it really came down to just leaving him alone to work it out. Yes, I let my kid sit on the toilet himself for an hour, but ya know what - NO MORE ACCIDENTS! And the best part is that he gets SO excited!
Since Tyler has been 3 - it's been - well, like some one flipped a switch actually. Everyone warns you about the terrible twos - yeah watch out for the twisted threes! I love Tyler more than anything but I never know what kid he is going to be. This week was a VERY snuggly, cranky, whiney kind of week. Week before was - "I wanna do it" week. Ya just never know. I guess I can say he keeps us on our toes.
He is learning so much and I couldn't be more greatful. He can say his ABC'S and growing with numbers each day. He knows all his colors and LOVES to match things. Tyler also loves to be in the kitchen and be my "biggest helper". I let him help me make anything that I can, it's such a great bonding expirience for us. He also is a big help in the garage helping Allen with his race car when ever he can as well. As much as neither of us really want to see him behind the wheel of a race car - I am afraid it's inevitable. This kid has it in his blood.
Tyler is very excited about Allen and I getting married and I can't wait to see them both in their tuxes. Just nine months from today - we will officially become The Davis Family.
Kindest Regards,
Al, Jeni and Ty

we're rich....
.....well in one sense or another. I may end up jinxing myself but I think it's safe to say we will no longer be purchasing diapers! YAY! Tyler is potty trained and I still have a hard time believing it. It's hard to trust him when we go places but he has done great telling me he has to go or just simply holding it (and man can he!) It's been great - just think of all the money we'll save!
Tyler recently celebrated his THIRD birthday! Happy Brithday Monkey! It's so hard to believe it's been 3 years already - he has grown SO much and has truely made me a better person. We are very blessed to have great family and friends who could share his day. He had a blast at his party, got private party with just Mommy and Daddy on his actual birthday and a great playdate party with bestie Evan just a day later! Note for future parties - always buy balloons!
Christmas is on Saturday and I jsut can't wrap my head around how it got here so fast? It has been such crazy times for us, one thing after another. I love this time of year, but I am exhausted, ready to be done and for things to slow down. haha! Yeah right, we have a three year old! Eh,well..... here's to wishful thinking :)

proud mama!
We have been working with Tyler for some time (what seems like FOREVER) trying to get him potty trained. He knew when he needed to be changed as he he has been saying "I peed. Will you please change me?" Ugh! If you knew you had to pee why didn't you say so? Or just head to the bathroom? (he has his own little potty) Well I have been waiting for the right time, and yesterday I just decided to go balls to the wall and put him in underwear. I figured we have hardwood floors and I don't care how many messes I clean, you are getting potty trained. Well to my surprise, Tyler made it ALL morning not peeing in his underwear until naptime!!! I was so impressed and absolutely extatic! (he did poop once but hey, kids have accidents) So I thought, this is great! I can't believe this is what it took and it's working! So today I decided to send him to daycare in underwear as well. I called when I knew Allen had picked him up to see how it went (I hadn't heard from them all day) and he did not have ONE accident! I was so amazed I couldn't wait to get home to tell Tyler how happy I was. He did have a little accident at home that he just didn't make it time - but HEY - we're making progress. I just keep praying that this truely will work and can't wait for NO MORE DIAPERS!!! ......at least until he has a baby sibling :)
