heart throb already?
So this morning I am driving to bring Tyler to school. As we are turning into the subdivision and onto Sandy's street Tyler says "Stacia's car". I say "You see Miss Stacia's car?" (even though I knew he didn't) and he said "yeah". So we round the corner to Sandy's Daycare and there it was. I also saw Kaylee's dads truck in the driveway so I said "Tyler, baby Kaylee is here!" (one of his favorite kids at school). As we are getting out of the car he says to me "Tyler see Kaylee?". (you know how kids love to talk in third person) I said "Yep, we're going to see her right now". And out of pure curiosity of what his answer would be I asked "Is Kaylee your girl friend?" to which he replied "Yeeessss! Kaylee Tyler's girfriend."...... lovely......

Happy Brithday!!!
Today Tyler is TWO! I can't hardly believe that 2 years ago, we were sitting in a hospital waiting to take our precious gift home. Tyler has grown and learned so much in two years, and he still continues to amaze us.
We celebrated with a family party on Saturday. Tyler had a LOT of fun and is enjoying every single one of his presents. Thank you to all of our family who was able to make it (rotten Michigan winters) and for all your generosity!
It has been confirmed by Mrs. Sandy at school that Tyler has more than certainly entered into his "terrible twos" as he is choosing to not listen and push his boundries. I am learning that if I can make it through this phase, that I should be able to make it through ANYTHING. He is definately a pistol and ALL BOY!
In addition to "terrible twos" he has also developed this whole "do it self" or "me do it" thing. He is such an independant little man that he even insists on clothing changes (and does a darn good job). The other day when he was supposed to be napping, I thought he got up and when I went in his room he was still in bed, but with his shirts taken off and put back on inside-out (and arms in the head hole) and his pants off and working on getting his diaper off!!! Oh how I wish I had my camera! Hmmmm... Time for potty training?
On some positive notes, Tyler's can count to ten in English by himself and is even counting objects. And if I help him, he can count to ten in Spanish (Thanks Handy Manny). He still loves his Blue's Clues and Handy Manny, and can sing/say most parts of the songs! Last week on the way home from the mall, I could hear him "Santa..... town" and finally realized he was trying to sing "Santa Claus is coming to town". Smarty pants! Speaking of, I am hoping he does well with Santa this year, he recognizes him and gets excited, but nervous that he won't want anything to do when we visit him.....
I will post pics of his Bday soon!

tyler the tiger.....
Tyler got to dress up as a tiger this year. Allen picked it out one night at the mall, and was a little too perfect as "tiger" is Allen's nick name for Ty. I was worried that Tyler would make a fuss about putting on his costume but it turned out that he actually started crying at bedtime the night before because he had to wait until the next day to put it on! So precious! When Tyler woke up he was saying Happy Halloween and Trick or Treat all day long and couldn't wait to be a tiger. We started with a pizza party at the Borchers with Tony, Yen, Cheyenne and Elliott. Elliott was a bear and so ADORABLE. Too bad we were missing the Lion. After some pizza and treats we headed over to the Davis'. Tyler got his special treats from Grandma and Grandpa and we headed out for some trick or treating. Luckily we were down a road that was blocking the wind so it wasn't too cold until the end. Tyler got the concept of it all a little to well. I would carry his pumpkin for him in between houses (the candy kept spilling) and when we got to a house with the lights on he would tell me "punkin Mommy". He did say trick or treat at every house and thanked everyone for his treats. He was so stinking cute, and was pure joy for me to watch him have so much fun. After we pretty much filled his bucket, we stayed at the Davis' to warm up and then brought Tyler to see Great Grandma and Grandpa Davis, who of course filled his pumpkin to the brim! It was a great day and I can not WAIT until next year!!

pumpkin carving.....
Saturday we took advantage of a Michigan fall day and stayed inside to carve pumpkins. Allen cut the tops for them, and I scooped out the "pumpkin brains". I gave Tyler the scooper (heaven forbid he touch that gunk) and he scooped about 3 scoops and says "all done". Okay, not that I thought that he completely get it or get super into it but geesh! Stick around for a while would ya? So Allen and I finished the carving. And do you think I have ANY tea lights or votive candles to light them up? I did find one and so one at a time we turned off the lights to show little Monkey the finished projects. THIS part he liked. All in all it was a fun way to get some family time in.

punkin' pickin' time.....

On Saturday, Allen and I took Tyler to Post Family Farm to pick his very first pumpkin. Shortly after Allen purchased his costume, I went out and bought the "traditional" plastic pumpkin for trick or treating. Ever since then, he has been obsessed with it and points out pumpkins EVERYWHERE we go. (rather cute actually) Although at 10 in the morning, it was quite chilly, we still had a good time. He got to feed the goats,
and see "bawk-bawks", "moos" and horses. Oh and don't forget all the tractors either (his other fav) Tyler would NOT ride the pumkin train they had there, but he really enjoyed the hayride to the pumpkin patch and picking one out. Hopefully next year will be a little warmer and we'll be able to spe
nd more time there.

car convo.....
One day after I had picked up Tyler from school, I had a change to make my turn out of the subdivision and floored just be sure. I hear Tyler in the back go "Whoa!.....Past!!" (he was really saying fast) SO our convo went something like this:
Me: "Does Mommy go fast?"
Tyler "Uh-huh...a Daddy"
Me: "Does Daddy go fast?"
Ty: "UH-HUH!!!..... a Gampa"
Me: "Gampa goes fast? Does Mommy go fast too?"
Ty: "Nooooo....."
Me: "Mommy doesn't go fast?"
Ty: "Nooooo....a Daddy...... a Tony... a Gampa"
And believe it or not, I have yet to bring him to the race track......
Me: "Does Mommy go fast?"

darn spiders.....

Last weekend this was how Tyler looked when he woke up from his nap. How lovely.... allergic reaction to a spider bite and mosquito bites from the nite before. Poor Monkey his eye was completely swollen shut with a very visible bite mark. I immediately gave him Allegra and Tylenol and the swelling seem to start going down almost instantly. I was told that spiders bite when they are rolled on to - what the hell is a spider doing in my monkey's bed?!?!?! I looked all over his room for traces of this vicious spider, but there is not even a cobweb, so I have no idea where it came from. Hopefully it will tell it's friends "Don't go in that room, there's a kid who will roll over on ya".

friends and family
Recently, Tyler got to spend pretty much the whole day with cousin Elliott. Despite the age difference, the boys really enjoy playing together. Tyler does really well at sharing toys and trying to get Big E to play with him, and I am not sure anyone can make Elliott laugh, smile and giggle the way Ty does. Really is quite hilarious. Elliott was SO interested in Ty and what he was doing, I had a hard time getting him to eat - and that's not usually an issue. No matter, the boys had a good time, and thankfully for ME, napped at the SAME time (yes!).

We also had a visit from Tyler's friend Brady and new littlest friend Izzy came over for some play time. Izzy seemed to think it was a "sleepover" as she slept the whole time and NEVER made a peep. Brady and Tyler had the best time together and even more when Allen got in on the fun; throwing the boys in the air, bouncing and carrying them around like airplanes. By the end of the night, Brady did NOT want to leave. He clung to Allen like a starfish and ended up having to bring him out to the care for Ang and Mike when it was time to leave.

Good times!

monters, WALL-E and mcqueen
As many know, Tyler has been a huge Blue's Clues fan for quite some time. In the last 6 months or so he has also picked up Handy Manny. As many times and I have watched these shows I think I have seen each episode at least twice and know ALL the songs. It's sad, I know, but so true. I decided it was time for a change, and started letting Tyler watch movies (being a Disney collector - I happen to have almost every Pixar). Well, now I am beginning to think this was an even BIGGER mistake..... Now all my monkey wants is "wa-ee, monsters, or m-queen". Yep, just like his mom I have turned him into a Disney/Pixar fan. I tried Finding Nemo one time, but was as into that. I think it's time to invest in the one's I do NOT have.... I think if I have to watch Cars one more time in the next month, some one will need to check me into the "crazy house". On the plus side, I love seeing Tyler getting so excited, jumping around screaming "yayyyyyy" when he gets to watch one.....simply priceless.

i've.....got..... PERSONALITY!

While we seemed to have entered a serious testing and "mine" phase, and acting a quite bratty most of the time, I so appreciate what a little help Ty is. Last night I told him it was time for bed, and that he need to put his toys back, and cleaning up everything! YEAH! Put the toys that go in the toy box, lined up his other toys, and put his books and puzzles back in their bins! Gave Allen hugs (he loves hugs right now) and kisses and marched up the stair to bed. He such a good kid.....at least most of the time.

new teeth!
Well I can't hardly believe it! I know some kids get their teeth slower than other, but, geesh! About a month ago Tyler had been acting just not himself, and did not appear to be sick with anything. So I finally managed to get my finger in there and sure enough - a new tooth! And about 2 weeks later - same thing - another tooth! Well today he has been kind of a crabby patty and did not have very wet diapers all day - so once again I managed to get my finger in there for a check and realized he was getting FOUR teeth at once!!! Well no wonder he has been such a little weirdo lately...... He is still missing 2 incisors on the bottom and all of his eye teeth, but now we are up to TEN. And on the subject of teeth I just have to say that Tyler just LOVES brushing his teeth. And Allen did a good job teaching him how because I think for his age he does a good job.

monkey see, monkey do.....
So our weekend didn't really go as planned. I discovered Friday morning that Tyler had the flu. And just how did I figure this out? Well he presented no fever or anything... but he did puke all over our couch! Lovely! Allen was at work which left me to deal with the mess myself. Yuck! I called daycare to see if any other kids had been out with this, and sure enough, Tyler's little buddy Reid was out on Tues/Weds! I am thankful that Tyler is so smart and can communicate enough to tell me when he is not hungry, that he needs "wa-er" (water) and when he is ready for nap/bed. He didn't eat anything all day, took almost a 3 hour nap and went to bed at 6:30! The next day he woke up and was ready to GO! He ate a little, but still asked for water. By yesterday, it was like nothing happened. So glad my little guy is back to his monkey 'ol self :)
Boy I tell you, when some kids are in learning mode, they are in learning mode. Tyler's vocabulary and communication is just improving ALL the time. He is putting words together and can and will repeat pretty much anything you say (so long as he can say it) Everyday he says "bu-bye" to everything including his room and his blanket. He asks what everything is (that's a little annoying) and is really into his puzzles, books and coloring! What a big boy! He really just wants to know about EVERYTHING and how great for his development! He has even begun wanting to help with "chores". He always wants to do things himself, I let him "help" me with the dishes, carry the laundry basket (he even tried to copy me folding it - SO cute!) and sweeping. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Oh, and he finally started saying his own name!!! He is always surprising me, I can't wait to find out what's in store next :)

family vacation

Couple weeks ago, Allen, Tyler and and I packed up the car and headed to Traverse City for a little family vacation. We got there early afternoon and we were staying with my Grams. This was the first time Allen would meet this side of my family, and they LOVED him :).

summer fun
What wonderful weather we have been having lately (well except the scorcher days last week) I have been trying to make sure that when it's nice and not too hot that he gets some "owside" time.
Friday we met up with Friends at Millennium Park Beach. This was Tyler's first time EVER at the beach. I thought for sure I would be chasing him ALL over that place, but he was quite good and very content just sitting in the water or sand and playing. He really seemed to enjoy himself, so yeah, will definitely be making more trips.

Unfortunately, we had to cut our time there a little early to get to Ty's 18 month check up. He weighed in at 22.6 lbs putting him in the 10th percentile, he now is 32 inches tall taking him from the 14th to the 32nd percentile -WOO HOO - at least he grew some where! haha! We talked about all the normal things, eating habits, activity, and talking. I wish Al could have seen the look on Dr. Conner's face. I was telling her how he seems to pick up a new word or two at least once per week and the phrases he says, and just starred at me, and says.... "Well I guess we don't have to worry about speech problems, do we?". Now HOPEFULLY we don't have to be back there until 2 years! :)
Saturday, Tyler and I did some shopping in the morning. And then we all went to visit Great Gramma Davis for her birthday. She is staying at a home while she recovers from back surgery. There is a pond with TONS of ducks there and we brought some bread to feed them. The second he spotted them "duck, duck, duck....quack, quack". He just really loves birds right now. I sure hope he doesn't ask for one though!
Later we headed to a luau birthday party for friend Meredith. All the kids had a blast with the pool, slip n slid, swing set and all.
Since Tyler is so into animals and especially birds lately, we decided to take him to the zoo. He didn't say much or jump up and down, but he did seem to really enjoy it. He was mesmerized by all the different kinds of birds. He said hi to the chimps, the tiger and the bears. I even took him on a camel ride which he was not too impressed with at first, but by then end was laughing :)
I have more pictures to come soon!

a "bir"!
I personally just found this story too cute to NOT share!
Last week Thursday, Tyler and I were walking out the car to leave for the day. As I went to open the car door, I hear "bir, bir, bir". And of course I had no idea what he was talking about. I turned around and sitting on the light on the side of the garage was a BIRD - Ohhhhh..... I said to him "oh you see the bird". Tyler looked at me, then looked back the bird and as he waves his hand says "hiiiii". I couldn't help but to chuckle. I turned back around to load up the car and the bird must have flown away. Next I heard "where'd it go?". So I looked again and the sure enough the bird was no longer there so I told him "Birdie flew away, birdie went bye-bye". So again he looks at me and looks where the bird was and as he waves again as he says "Byyyeee". Priceless.

18 months
Wow! I know that pretty much all moms say this, and moms who do say it all the time BUT...... WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!?!?! Yes, yes I still can't believe that Tyler turned 18 months yesterday! Officially a toddler and no longer our baby :( And boy did he sure show it this weekend! That crazy little animal is totally fearless!?!?!?!
Friday we went swimming with some friends and it took me carrying him into the pool to get used to it, but once he was he was walking right in with out me and jumping off the side into my arms. And even though he was shivering so much I could hear his teeth chatter - he did NOT want to get out. Talk about having a fish for a kid!
Saturday we had some family pics and Tyler's 18 month pictures done at our WONDERFUL photographer Jane Harris. Tyler did amazingly well and the pictures turned out GREAT! Jane, thanks again! You're awesome! Check out the pics @ http://imageevent.com/janeharrisphoto/tyler;jsessionid=9tsu826hx1.penguin_s
After we left there, it was lunch time and we were starving, so on the way home we stopped at Steak N Shake for some lunch. Once home we got changed and headed down to Cutlerville Community Days right around the corner from our house! Allen got to check out some cars, Tyler got to play (and get yet another scrape on his knee) and I got my elephant ear :)
Yesterday was a nice quiet day with some playtime outside. How could anyone stay inside on this GORGEOUS weekend we had!?!?!?! Later we dropped Tyler off to play with Aunt Yen, Uncle Tony and Eli while we got some Mommy and Daddy time at the movies (saw the Hangover - a MUST see!).
Tyler just seems to grown and develop and learn new things every day! The best is that now he has SO MANY words, we are able to communicate with him better and better all the time. So much easier! I just can't ever wait for what smart, funny, silly, adorable, cutie pie, monkey thing he will be doing next!

fun with eli
This weekend I was able to reminisce while digging out Tyler's old baby toys for Eli this weekend. We got to spend lots of time with Eli this weekend. Saturday Yen and I headed to cousin Adam's open house (Congrats Rogers Class 2009!) where Eli slept and Tyler and Brayden chases each other up and down the side walk and in and out of the house - those boys sure can ware you out just watching them! That night I was watching Eli so Yen could head to the track. Tyler was such a ham and you can tell he just loves that baby. He tried to help me lift the carrier in the house by "lifting" from underneath with a little grunt in all. He insists on giving him his passie when he cries and helping feed his bottle. So cute! Then.... the jealousy set in. All I have to say it - thank goodness I do not have TWO right now :) BUT I really can't complain because he really is very good with him and really just wants to help! We love you Eli!
Friday Ty and went to the mall to pick up a couple things. Well clearly I take Tyler shopping WAY to much, cuz while I thought he just wanted my wallet to play with my Costco/Speedway cards, he was really wanting to "pay" for our purchase. There was NO WAY he was letting me touch those cards either, absolutely insisted on the cashier taking them!
A new phrase for Ty's vocabulary this weekend has become "wassat?". And like most children, he has to ask about everything. So all weekend I hear "wassat?" and "whereditgo?"..... OH the joys of having a toddler :)

where did it go?
I can't believe in 11 days our little monkey will be 18 months already!?!?! Just one year ago Tyler was pretty much in a summer romper every day just crawling around this place. Where does the time go?
Tyler has been talking more, and more every single day. Some days he comes home from daycare saying all kinda of crazy things I have never heard him say. Mostly just words have added to vocabulary but has developed a new a favorite phrase... "Where did it go?" Most times just comes out as "wherego?" but we have heard him pronouce each word and I just can't believe he can say it at all.... Now he takes all his toys or tag blanket, hides it and says "Where'd it go?" I always say "I dunno, where is it?" And he'll say "Here go!". What a silly little man.
We have been fortunate enough to enjoy most of the nice weather. I try to take Ty out to the park or at least outside to ride his bike around here. I just hope there is plently more warm weather to come.

up north

Allen and I took Tyler up north to Grandma and Grandpa Borcher's cabin near Baldwin. It was so nice to just get away and Tyler just had a blast! But what kid wouldn't when they got to spend ALL their day outside? We left Friday afternoon and Ty slept the whole way there. Allen and I were concerned about his sleeping and napping (normally does not do that well) but he kinda surprised us with 2 naps on Saturday and 2-3 hour nap Sunday.
Night time was a little different as he ended up in the rocker with Daddy one night and slept ON me the other. And both days was up at the crack of dawn with the birds.... Each morning he would wake up, eat like 2 bites of breakfast then haul me over to the door... "side, side"... He played with the water in his little pool there, went a quad ride with Daddy, went on a hike with Mommy, played ball w/ Daddy and Uncle Tony and got to see cousins Eli and Cheyenne and lots of other random people - he didn't care though, he took it all in and was a huge ham!
Of course it is all fun and games until some one gets hurt.... well I expect a few scratches and bug bites and stuff (hello? it is the woods!) but on Saturday morning Tyler was SO excited to see Grampa up, he ran, tripped on his blanket and biffed it so that he ended up with a fat lip; bottom teeth puncture the top lip :( Of course he was screaming and I had no idea at first, but after some much needed snuggling about 20 minutes later was raring to go!!! All in all it was SO worth the lack of sleep to how much he loved it there, and I didn't even care that he was as filthy as Pig Pen!!! It will be fun to bring him again and see how he remembers.

Becoming a "big boy".....
This weekend Tyler got to have a sleepover at Gramma Borchers house, while Mommy froze her tail off watching Daddy race. :) He seemed to have a lot of fun here, and who wouldn't with going to the park, getting a tattoo (wash off kind obviously) and staying up late... he had a blast! Allen and I got to enjoy a nice night to ourselves including SLEEPING IN! Ahhhh.... And then Sunday it was back to reality.
I must say Tyler is really just blooming before our eyes. I finally had to buy him new jeans and tennis shoes because he has just shot right up in height and all a sudden his feet grew like a size and a half?!?!?! He has been talking so much (still don't understand most of it) but is saying more and more words all the time. He now says "at" for hat, "cuck" for truck and instead of Dada can now say "daadee" (so adorable!).
Tyler is still a big helper with putting coats and shoes away, replacing caps/lids and even in the bathroom. He loves to come in the bathroom, close the lid and says "all done" and the will flush the toilet. I am very pleased with the interest he shows in this, and if he keeps it up, we may just be trying potty training this fall!!! (I know, don't count my chickens) AND after dropping the mattress to lowest level, we found out real quick that he can still get out. THANKFULLY, with a little coaching, Tyler has been staying in his bed for naps and bedtime!! YAY!
I am looking forward to a nice long BEAUTIFUL holiday weekend we have ahead of us! I'm sure we will be outside LOTS!

one little monkey....
Friday afternoon I had an appointment for a manicure/pedicure as a little treat to myself for Mother's Day. Gramma Pickerd was nice enough to come over and watch Tyler while I was away. He had gone down for a nap right before I left. By the time I had got home he was no longer napping. He had slept for about an hour and Gramma had heard him over the monitor and then all was quiet again. All of a sudden was the sound of a door opening and then the pitter patter of little feet. Gramma got upstairs as fast a she could only to find out one little monkey had climbed out of bed, went into Mommy and Daddy's room, shut the door and turned on the TV. WHAT A LITTLE STINKER!
That afternoon........ after waking up for a nap, no need to call "mama", sure just get out of bed and go play in our room.
Saturday morning...... Al shot out of bed startled by the sound of our door (which startled me out of a dead sleep) to find Ty awake and out of bed. "Hiiiiii" says Tyler.....
Saturday nap times..... who needs a nap when you can crawl out of your bed FIVE times?!?!!? At this point was not willing to stay in his bed and ends up falling asleep in Mommy's arms on the couch.
Sunday morning..... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! "Hiiii" again from Ty as he pulls and pulls on my fingers to get me out of bed at 7:00 AM..... Guess he didn't get the memo that mommies are supposed to sleep in! That day we dropped his mattress to the absolute lower (was yet - didn't think this would come so soon!).
Sunday night.... I think he was just way to exhausted, but stayed in bed all night!
Monday night..... I put Tyler to bed around 8:45 p.m. and he was good until I hear banging and then the door trying to be opened. Sure enough as soon as I get up there and open the door there is Ty and this time he knew he was in trouble. When I scooped him up he started crying instantly. So I just told him "You are tired and it is time for nu-night. You are to stay in your bed and you do not get out of your bed". To very much my surprise he did! YAY! He did cry, which I figured he would but not for long and went right to sleep.
I am hoping that this tactic will work, I know he is becoming a "big boy" but Mommy is just not ready for Big Boy Bed.
Hope all you mothers had a nice Mother's Day!

little heartbreaker
So, Tyler has not really ever had a problem with going to daycare. The exception was a phase of separation anxiety when he was an infant which passed in like two weeks time. Since then he has always known when we got there and would scramble like crazy trying to get out of car seat because he was so excited to be there. And during that time he could care less that I was leaving him there. Recently when we pull into the driveway he is still be excited and wants to go in but now once inside, he will suction himself to me like a starfish, wrapping his legs around my leg, locking his feet and arms around my neck grabbing my clothes. And he is UNBELIEVABLY strong for how little he is! He also recently has been extra whiney, clingy, just really not seeming to know what he wants exactly. Anyway..... Today was the kicker. Brought him to daycare, was ready to get out of the car and go in. Got in there and, that's right, STARFISH! Did NOT want me to go. We tried distracting him with basketballs, bouncy balls, even the slide and wanted NOTHING to do with it. I think he has figured out what we are trying to do, sticking little smarty. I finally said that's it, I had to go. Told Tyler "Mama is going to say good bye and then give you too Mrs. Sandy" I gave him a couple kisses and handed him over. Of course he was crying instantly as I walked away. I turned around to say "Bu-bye" and there he was in Sandy's arms with his hand just a reaching for me crying "Ma, ma, ma, ma, ma". And as I continued to leave, tears rolled down my cheeks.

Family Time
Saturday morning we got up had breakfast with Granny and got ready to go meet Papa Pickerd at the Great Lakes Children's Museum. They were having a special day - Clifford the big red dog and Curious George were visiting! I thought Ty would be totally afraid, well much to my surprise it was the exact opposite and the second he saw them he took off to go say "Iiiii" (Hi). TOTALLY cute!!! He had a blast the whole time we were there and really took to Grandpa..... After, I was STARVING, so we headed off to Taco House (I have to stop every time I am there - so YUMMY!) for an early lunch. We said our goodbyes and headed back to Granny's for change and get to Uncle Tom's wedding. What a handful Tyler was. At this point he had not had a nap at all, so I think he was just overly tired and had had it at that point. We did find out, however, that Tyler does like both fish and tomatoes. He must have eaten about 5 cherry tomatoes, just popped 'em right in his mouth. Needless to say, as we headed home Saturday afternoon, Ty was OUT like a light the second the car got moving and slept most the way home.

Sunday, Allen and I took Tyler over to Grandpa Davis'. The car is finally finished with paint, stickers and all!! I just had to see it! From there we took a nice little family walk through the neighborhood down to Dairy Dip. It was too nice of day to not grab some ice cream! It felt so good just be out in the sun and enjoy some nice relaxing time together. Now, if we can only keep this weather around, what a bonus that would be!

Just one of those kids.....

Our weekend was pretty laid back. Friday, Ty and I were at the doctor and did some grocery shopping and then Grandma Pickerd came over so Mommy could go to a Ladies Night Out. :) Although I always miss him, I had a GREAT time! Saturday, as most any one who lives in the Midwest knows, there was tons of rain and thunderstorms, so Allen's race got cancelled. I was actually quite happy for this cause it meant some quality time together. Grandma and Grandpa Davis came over while Allen and I hit up dinner and a movie. Today, we have just been lounging around, had a nice big Sunday breakfast, Tyler played and watched movie on TV with us. I didn't plan on doing anything since I expected it to rain ALL day and right now the sun is shining?!?!?! Leave it to Michigan meteorologists......

I have mentioned (and prolly repeatedly) what a ham Ty is lately, so I thought I would share with you a few of his antics..... Clearly thinks his bucket is a hat and he just loves the beads so how can I say no? And yes, Tyler is putting on Mommy's PINK headband.... Aunt Kate B. couldn't believe that Kendall and him had this in common right now. And last but not least, what kid doesn't like shoes? But some how it's just WAY funnier when your little BOY is putting on clearly what are GIRL shoes..... Priceless.....

Testing, testing......
What a BEAUTIFUL weekend we had with the weather! And I am so excited for another one! We had a lot of fun this weekend with LOTS of outside time.
Friday, I met up with my friend Mandy and her girls and took all the kids to ware off some energy at Millennium Park. It was really nice there since there was a range of ages, toys for every kid. Afterwards, we ran home to grab sweatshirt and something to eat and then headed to Allen's softball game, where there is dirt EVERYWHERE. Tyler could care less and had a blast with his new rake from the Easter Bunny, and of course all the balls around. Saturday was a stay at home day, but we had some fun together playing outside with T-Ball, golf and sidewalk chalk. Allen was at the track for the first race of the season. And then Sunday it rained...... oh well with all Ty's toys there is still plenty to do!
Tyler has been receiving more time outs lately. He sure is trying our patience and seeing what he can and can't get away with. Before a year old he threw everything. We did get him to understand to only throw balls and NOT at people. Well now we are back to throwing everything. Only now you tell him not to, he looks at you, throws it, then laughs. ha.... ha.... Mommy is not laughing. But he does sit in the time out well, and is getting even better at saying "sorry".
When Tyler is not being naughty he is certainly one of the funniest kids I know. He LOVES my shoes, my jewelry, my headbands, both of our sunglasses and belts. Who the heck knows what it is about these things, but he loves them.
I do have some new pics, and have finally figured out how to get a slide show on here. So once I upload those, come back and take a look!
Have a great weekend!

Happy Easter
What a weekend! Friday Mee-maw (Gramma Pickerd) came over to deliver Tyler's Easter presents which was a new bike (that fits him right now) and a golf club set. Well he just loves BOTH of these new toys. He is learning how to pedal and getting pretty good at it. And the golf clubs.... well were teaching him that it's not okay to hit Mommy with those. But both are a big hit! Later that evening, Tyler and I headed to G&G Davis' to visit Allen while he was working on his car and bring him some dinner. Tyler just had a blast. Allen showed him how to use some tools and did a little exploring in the garage. He didn't even mind the loud power tools! Yep, definately a Davis.
Saturday we went to a party for Cousin Eli's 1 month Celebration. It's Asian tradition to celebrate at 1 month of life and have a party. So we did. Lots of yummy food and LOTS of loudness from the children. Tyler and Brayden had a so much fun playing together and were so adorable. After everyone ate and some hanging out, we decided that we were all in need for some Burlingame Dairy Dip! YUM!!! Tyler's very first DD!!! It was definitely freezing, but I didn't care it was delicious. Tyler was exhausted, so I think had he been more awake he would have enjoyed it more (and maybe if not so cold).
Sunday was Easter of course and started at home with Easter basket #1. Well as soon as he saw it he just tore right into it pulling stuff out left and right. Next thing I know he has one of the eggs open and shoving M&Ms in his mouth. SO cute! He found his book and bubbles which he decided to eat also. (so wish I had a pic of this). After some clean up we headed to the Borcher's for breakfast - VERY DELICIOUS! Mommy ate way to much! Easter basket #2 had brought Tyler and Eli both new baseball bat/ball set (Detroit Tigers of course) so of course the boys headed outside to test 'em out (and by boys I mean Al, Tony and Andrew - LOL) Was such a beautiful day out and they all had fun. In the afternoon we headed to Cousin Uncle Jim's for Davis Easter and egg hunt. Having only slept in the car at all that day, Tyler was pretty tired, but after refueling from dinner was ready to GO! Lots of playing and surprisingly got into the egg hunt. He thought the eggs were balls and smashed one, but we so enjoyed watching him enjoy himself.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Little Blessings
Every day I watch Tyler and I just can't believe that we were told that he may have learning or mental disabilities. He has hit every single milestone right on the money and most of them ahead of his time. He continues to amaze and seems like nearly every day he comes home from day care doing something he has not yet done before. Yes, we have had our share of run ins with some sickness, but Ty seems to bounce right back from what ever ails him and his development just keeps on going.
I've noticed that he seems to be a very visual learner, watching every move you make at times. He must be in a learning phase or something, because he just seems to do something new almost every day and pick up on things really quickly. Faster than I can get updates on this site!
WORDS: I think I already had this on another post, but afterwards it was bugging me. I wrote down all the words he knows and it's about 25. I was surprised! He seems to picked up a couple new ones in the last couple weeks and I hope it continues. Even though with or with out words I know he will be a little chatter box!
BIG HELPER: Tyler has been wanting to help do EVERYTHING lately. He LOVES to throw things away. If he finds a piece of lint in the carpet he will pick it up and go tot he pantry to throw it away. When he is done eating he tells us "all done", reaching both his cup and plate to the table and takes his own bib off. Once he is down, he like to help push the chair in. He also is pretty good about picking up. At least for his age I feel.
PROBLEM SOLVING: T might make a great researcher one day who knows but he really seems to enjoy problem solving. He loves to dump his mega blocks out and then make a tower stacking them one by one. Then he takes it apart one by one and then does it all over again. Like most kids, he loves the tupperware cupboard. I have all mine nested together and he will take them and stack them, then try and stack them so they are nesting again. He wants to put lids/caps on himself and is just all around into figuring things out.
MIMICKING: So far Tyler has been able to learn peek-a-boo with his own hands (really into this right now) as well as blowing kisses (does quite get this one) spitting your tongue and the latest (Thanks to Grandma Pickerd aka Me-maw) point your finger at mommy when you say no. Yeah, that's a fun one.
TYLER DO IT: So stubborn and independent. I have NO IDEA where he gets that from ;)~ Ty really wants to be able to do so many things himself. Throwing away garbage, putting on shoes and coat. Putting away shoes and coat. Getting dressed. You name it, he'll prolly try it himself before asking for help. And forget cutting up his pizza, or serving him tacos in a bowl, he has decided he will eat it the way Mommy and Daddy do. And he actually eats his meals better that way! However when it comes to meal that MUST be eaten with utensils, he does a great job with both fork and spoon. He does not move his plate until he is done and rarely throws his cup any more.
TIME OUT: Time out is not something new for Tyler. Fortunately it hasn't had to happen but a handful of times. But when his nautiness warrents a time out, he does pretty well. He actually sits and stays in his spot until we tell him he can get out. He usually cries most of or the entire time. We explain to him why he was there, he has to say sorry and give kisses. (he really LOVES to give kisses) Tyler is also really good about saying sorry. I give a big high five to daycare on this on especially (Thank you Sandy, Stacia and Amber!) This is another one that does not need to be used a lot (yay!) but I hope will be helpful for him to learn to be careful and that it's not okay to do certain things.
This weekend we got a chance to spend some quality time with Grandma Pickerd with lunch at Applebee's and a little shopping therapy at Wal-mart. Tyler does really well on outings and was so nice for me to have some one to entertain him while I grabbed stuff.
Saturday we were going to head to the mall to see the Easter Bunny, however since this was such a nice day we skipped and went to Grandpa and Grandpa Davis' and Uncle Tony and Aunt Yen's instead. Tyler had a BLAST playing outside at G&G Davis' and who can blame him when he and Brayden have their very own Mustang to drive! And a wagon and a GIANT ball to kick and thrown. Surprisingly enough, the power tools didn't bother him one bit. After some fresh air we headed to Tony and Yen's to visit with Yen and Eli. Man, I had forgotten how fast they grown. That tiny little peanut has already gained some weight and it showing on his ADORABLE chubby little cheeks and thighs. Tyler could care less for the most part, until Mommy had him or you laid him down in his pack n' play. He tried to climb up both me and the pack n' play. Nice, Tyler. I'm sure he will eventually outgrow this and they will have a BLAST together. But for now, I am all set with a little baby fix once and a while. :)
Today was a lazy day and soon day will be done and back to another week of work.
Some other good news we have is that last week Allen's doctor told him he could quit taking his Coumidin! Woo - hoo! We are not sure what then next step would be next. Hopefully it would be testing his anticoagulants (same as Tyler had) to see where the clotting problem is and if further or long term treatment is required. At Tyler last visit I had let Dr. Conner know (I finally remembered), she felt at this time there wouldn't be any need to treat Tyler so we shouldn't have to go back to the hematologist at this point.
Tyler's eczema is about 95% better with being on Zyrtec and a better cream. He still gets little break out patched on legs and arms, but it is no longer spreading with bright red scaly large patches all over his body thank goodness! We have also removed all our peanut products from the home and become quite accustomed to reading labels. It's actually quite amazing how many products are either made with or processed in plants with peanuts.
Well if you have made it this far, I would like to sorry for the length of this post. Hopefully in the future I will be able to keep up with Tyler better. I better get used to, cuz he is on a roll and don't think he has any plans to stop - WHAT A BLESSING!

Silly Little Monkey

Still LOVES his chair!

Lovely face after chocolate chip cookie.
Tyler loves the tupperware cupboard and thinks he has to climb into everything.....
Well, since Tyler has been on his antibiotic he seems to be feeling 200% better. He has just been runing around here, getting everything out, and bascally just bouncing off walls. Allen and I on the other, just seem to get worse. Hopefully we too will see a turn around point.
Tyler seems to keep finding ways to either amaze me or make me laugh and sometimes both! The other night he had asked for a "na-na". While the banana has always been his favorite fruit, how he wants it now is not the same. No more slicing, and he does not want 1/2 with out the peel. The only way he seems to eat it is by peeling it halfway, cutting the peel (otherwise he tries to eat it) and let him have the whole thing - and he will eat it too. So I got him his nana, and he sat in my lap quietly ate on the couch. When he got down the peel where there was only 1 bite left I noticed he was "playing" with the peel. Logically thinking that he wanted that last bite and was trying to peel it with himself, I was wrong. I tried to help him and he instantly pulled it away. So as I watch, he is folding up each side of the peel, hops off my lap and walks to the pantry where the trash is. So I followed him to the pantry to open the door for him and he throws it away. This is prolly a totally "had to be there" story, but I thought is was adorable and gave me a chuckle and proud mama feeling. Maybe we can learn this boy right. :)

15 Month Check Up
Last Friday Tyler had his 15 month check up. Well I’d love to tell you that he has had a huge growth spurt, BUT he actually has only gained 6 ounces since 1 year check up?!?!? Crazy. I tell you that kid must burn absolutely everything he eats, cuz he eats like a champ and a petite little thing. Tyler weighed in at 22.6 lbs and measure 30 inches putting him in the 12th and 14th percentiles. Tyler is not a fan of hats so he would not sit still for the nurse or Dr. Conner for head circumference. Oh well.
While we were at the doctor’s Friday he had already had a cold for like a week and checked out fine. Yesterday was another story. He had a cough that progressively got worse this weekend and yesterday we BOTH stayed home as Tyler decided to share his cold. So I made us both appointments. I had a sore throat and wanted to get the clear on Strep before going to work and Tyler’s cough worsening was excuse enough to bring him in. The second she looks in his ear….. ANOTHER EAR INFECTION. Oh this poor kid! So he is on antibiotic again and already seemed better this morning and I have had no calls from daycare, so we shall see.
I know it’s been a long time since I have updated on Tyler, so this will be long. I understand if you have already stopped reading – haha!
Words – Tyler is getting better at “using his words” but every time he gets sick, it’s another set back. His most used words are: Mama, Dada, Ball, Go, Up, Down, All done, All gone, Herego, Ankyou, Ock!, Poop, ‘Side, Nana(banana not grandma), ‘Ara (for Sara the dog) and once in a while I can get a please out of him. Not too shabby. What make me really excited is that he REALLY seems to be understanding us more. The other day he dumped his blocks out and when I asked him to put them away he picked them up one by one and back in the bucket they went. And most people know he is a huge Blue’s Clues fan, and now when Steve asks where the clue is he can pick it out on the screen. I caught him doing this by accident one day and just couldn’t believe it! He is still going to the gate when you ask him if he has “ock”/poop in his diaper or if you ask him if he is ready for a nap/bed.
With the nice weather last week we sure did take advantage. Tyler absolutely loves it outside and I just didn’t have the heart keep him cooped up! Monday night we went for a walk and went in our “backyard” and played with a ball, rocks anything he could get his hands on. Tuesday I took him to the park and we walked on the trail in the park and then I let him play on the play set there which is nice cuz it’s Tyler size so he could go up and down himself. I did take him down the “big” slide a couple times and he LOVED it!
He has been so happy and so much fun lately I am just so looking forward to what will hopefully be very fun summer of parks, beaches and camping! Oh, and I PROMISE to get some new pics on here soon!!!

Welcome Baby Eli!
Tonight Tyler got to meet his very brand new baby cousin. Elliot (Eli) Anthony Davis was born at 6:21 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2009. He weighed in at just 6 lbs and 14 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long. He has a VERY full head of dark thick hair and is adorable! Mom is doing well and both Yen and Tony are excited he is finally here! Tyler didn't really want to have anything to do with him. We sat on the couch there and he pointed to Eli and said "B" (for baby) and then said "dow' (down). I thought he might be jealous that I had another baby but there was too much to explore in that hospital room. Who says hospitals don't have entertainment?
