pumpkin carving.....

Saturday we took advantage of a Michigan fall day and stayed inside to carve pumpkins. Allen cut the tops for them, and I scooped out the "pumpkin brains". I gave Tyler the scooper (heaven forbid he touch that gunk) and he scooped about 3 scoops and says "all done". Okay, not that I thought that he completely get it or get super into it but geesh! Stick around for a while would ya? So Allen and I finished the carving. And do you think I have ANY tea lights or votive candles to light them up? I did find one and so one at a time we turned off the lights to show little Monkey the finished projects. THIS part he liked. All in all it was a fun way to get some family time in.

punkin' pickin' time.....

On Saturday, Allen and I took Tyler to Post Family Farm to pick his very first pumpkin. Shortly after Allen purchased his costume, I went out and bought the "traditional" plastic pumpkin for trick or treating. Ever since then, he has been obsessed with it and points out pumpkins EVERYWHERE we go. (rather cute actually) Although at 10 in the morning, it was quite chilly, we still had a good time. He got to feed the goats, and see "bawk-bawks", "moos" and horses. Oh and don't forget all the tractors either (his other fav) Tyler would NOT ride the pumkin train they had there, but he really enjoyed the hayride to the pumpkin patch and picking one out. Hopefully next year will be a little warmer and we'll be able to spend more time there.

car convo.....

One day after I had picked up Tyler from school, I had a change to make my turn out of the subdivision and floored just be sure. I hear Tyler in the back go "Whoa!.....Past!!" (he was really saying fast) SO our convo went something like this:

Me: "Does Mommy go fast?"
Tyler "Uh-huh...a Daddy"
Me: "Does Daddy go fast?"
Ty: "UH-HUH!!!..... a Gampa"
Me: "Gampa goes fast? Does Mommy go fast too?"
Ty: "Nooooo....."
Me: "Mommy doesn't go fast?"
Ty: "Nooooo....a Daddy...... a Tony... a Gampa"

And believe it or not, I have yet to bring him to the race track......

darn spiders.....

Last weekend this was how Tyler looked when he woke up from his nap. How lovely.... allergic reaction to a spider bite and mosquito bites from the nite before. Poor Monkey his eye was completely swollen shut with a very visible bite mark. I immediately gave him Allegra and Tylenol and the swelling seem to start going down almost instantly. I was told that spiders bite when they are rolled on to - what the hell is a spider doing in my monkey's bed?!?!?! I looked all over his room for traces of this vicious spider, but there is not even a cobweb, so I have no idea where it came from. Hopefully it will tell it's friends "Don't go in that room, there's a kid who will roll over on ya".

friends and family

Recently, Tyler got to spend pretty much the whole day with cousin Elliott. Despite the age difference, the boys really enjoy playing together. Tyler does really well at sharing toys and trying to get Big E to play with him, and I am not sure anyone can make Elliott laugh, smile and giggle the way Ty does. Really is quite hilarious. Elliott was SO interested in Ty and what he was doing, I had a hard time getting him to eat - and that's not usually an issue. No matter, the boys had a good time, and thankfully for ME, napped at the SAME time (yes!).

We also had a visit from Tyler's friend Brady and new littlest friend Izzy came over for some play time. Izzy seemed to think it was a "sleepover" as she slept the whole time and NEVER made a peep. Brady and Tyler had the best time together and even more when Allen got in on the fun; throwing the boys in the air, bouncing and carrying them around like airplanes. By the end of the night, Brady did NOT want to leave. He clung to Allen like a starfish and ended up having to bring him out to the care for Ang and Mike when it was time to leave.

Good times!
