we're rich....

.....well in one sense or another. I may end up jinxing myself but I think it's safe to say we will no longer be purchasing diapers! YAY! Tyler is potty trained and I still have a hard time believing it. It's hard to trust him when we go places but he has done great telling me he has to go or just simply holding it (and man can he!) It's been great - just think of all the money we'll save!

Tyler recently celebrated his THIRD birthday! Happy Brithday Monkey! It's so hard to believe it's been 3 years already - he has grown SO much and has truely made me a better person. We are very blessed to have great family and friends who could share his day. He had a blast at his party, got private party with just Mommy and Daddy on his actual birthday and a great playdate party with bestie Evan just a day later! Note for future parties - always buy balloons!

Christmas is on Saturday and I jsut can't wrap my head around how it got here so fast? It has been such crazy times for us, one thing after another. I love this time of year, but I am exhausted, ready to be done and for things to slow down. haha! Yeah right, we have a three year old! Eh,well..... here's to wishful thinking :)

proud mama!

We have been working with Tyler for some time (what seems like FOREVER) trying to get him potty trained. He knew when he needed to be changed as he he has been saying "I peed. Will you please change me?" Ugh! If you knew you had to pee why didn't you say so? Or just head to the bathroom? (he has his own little potty) Well I have been waiting for the right time, and yesterday I just decided to go balls to the wall and put him in underwear. I figured we have hardwood floors and I don't care how many messes I clean, you are getting potty trained. Well to my surprise, Tyler made it ALL morning not peeing in his underwear until naptime!!! I was so impressed and absolutely extatic! (he did poop once but hey, kids have accidents) So I thought, this is great! I can't believe this is what it took and it's working! So today I decided to send him to daycare in underwear as well. I called when I knew Allen had picked him up to see how it went (I hadn't heard from them all day) and he did not have ONE accident! I was so amazed I couldn't wait to get home to tell Tyler how happy I was. He did have a little accident at home that he just didn't make it time - but HEY - we're making progress. I just keep praying that this truely will work and can't wait for NO MORE DIAPERS!!! ......at least until he has a baby sibling :)

where have we been.....

What a year it has been! And I can't believe it's almost 2011 already?!?!? Where do I begin?

Well, I suppose I will just go in order.... when Allen got called back to work earlier this spring, we began our search for a new home. We were outgrowing our condo and knew we one day would want to expand our family and would need more room anyway - no time like the present! We had a little run of bad luck on our search only to have our prayers answered with the deal of the century, so we hopped on it and it is OURS! Even though we still have lots of work to do around here, we couldn't be happier, and even better - neither can Tyler.

This year I celebrated my 30th Birthday. I was not thrilled about it - but had great friends to surprise with a great night out on the town the weekend before. On my actual birthday (in the middle of the week - yuck) it was spent trying to help Allen re-finish our hardwood floors in the new house in preperations to move in. Well boy did I get the surprise of my life - as Allen down on hands and knees also scraping floors, he whips out a little box and says 4 little words I've been waiting for - Will you marry me? And needless to say......

Tyler is about to turn 3 in just EIGHT days now - I can't hardly beleive my baby is getting so big. We have been working feverishly with him on potty training - and I have to say to everyone who says boys are harder than girls.... you couldn't be more right. It has definately been a struggle but with rewards, encouragement, and jumping in both feet first we are getting there. I let him put on big boy underwear for the first time today actually and althought he did poop - he did NOT pee. Oh what a wonderful feeling! Tyler has also got to enjoy many new things this year including apple picking with Mommy, trick or treating in his new neighborhood, and helping decorate the Christmas tree. He is such a little man and we couldn't be and feel more blessed to have him (minus the rough days ya know).
Now that things are finally settling down (minus an upcoming birthday and Christmas and all that - oh and don't forget wedding planning*ugh*) I will be doing my best to keep blogging and a lot more often. Thank you if you have continued to follow me.
Kind Regards
The Davis Family to be

summer fun

I know, I know we've been MIA for some time and I have been HORRIBLE about posting anything on here - it's just that we have been super busy getting out in about and enjoying the summer weather and some fun activities this year! :)

Now that Tyler is another year older is a lot easier bringing him places and being able to do fun things. We have been taking advantage of the warm weather and any free time spending time at the beach, the park - pretty much outside as much as possible. In addition to outdoor fun, Tyler got to have a couple VERY successful FIRSTS this summer.

1) First Trip to the Races! I'm not gonna lie, I was worried. I went completely prepared - snacks, drinks, blankets, sweatshirts, and of course head phones. All for what? NOTHING. He LOVED it! He did want to go home as soon as Allen's race was over (actually before that) - but it had already been a long full schedule weekend so I am sure he was EXHAUSTED. Every Saturday since I ask: "Tyler, what do you want to do tonight?" Tyler: "Go to the track and watch Daddy RACE!". And thus, I fear, a driver is born.

2) First Camping Trip! What a blast this was - rain and all it really was. Again I was nervous about it but also again for nothing. We were at Pine Lake and our first day up pretty much just got situated, relaxed and had a good time. Tyler did get to have his first boat ride with Grampa Borchers, Daddy and Uncle Drew and later make "hamburger cookies" with Gramma. I didn't even have to ask when he was ready for bed as he came up to me about 9:30 and says "Mom, I want to go to sleep". You got it kiddo! The next day we visited the Flea Roast and Ox Market and Tyler had a blast on all the carnival rides.  That was also the night the storm came :( By Sunday - I think we were ALL ready for the comforts of home. I can't wait to do it all again!

Tyler is in a lot of those "two year old" phases. Asking why, working on potty training, testing Mommy and Daddy - and boy is it EXHAUSTING. I keep telling my self "this too shall pass" and I just keep hoping it passes sooner than later..

I have some recent pictures I will get posted this weekend and hopefully things will slow down and I can post more frequently! :) As, always, THANKS FOR VISITING!

mommy is a slacker!

Boy am I behind on this thing or what? It's not been easy to get some time to do an update - I swear the older Ty gets the more active he is so the busier he keeps us!

We have been having some good time lately. Now that he is 2 going on 20 I find there is SO much we can bring him too. Just recently we had a family outing to Tyler's very first Monster Truck show. I was super nevous thinking as soon as we got in there and all the trucks started up he'd freak out at the noise. Boy oh boy did he ever prove me WRONG! I have not ever seen a kid get so excited about something - his body was literally SHAKING! I think Allen would agree we had more fun knowing how much fun he was having and he is STILL talking about it. Unfotunately my camera batteries died before we even got there :(

Remeber how when they are babies we can't wait for that day the first "mama" or "dada" comes out? Yeah - you can't take that back so new moms - be careful what you wish for. Apparently Tyler has a lot to say because he doesn't ever stop talking. But I'm always thankful being that's the one thing we were told he may for sure have a problem with from the stroke - how blessed we are! Especially with his unusally large vocabulary and word distinction.

Other then the normal every day in the life with a 2 year old things are pretty much the same. He does seem to be growing more and we're finally seeing some good weight gain - he'll be in that booster seat before we know it.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy a few pics - they might be old, but he is oh-so-CUTE!

two year check up

As I am driving Tyler to his appointment, this is what I hear from the back seat.... "Yay! Doctor Conner's office!".... My how blessed I am to have a kid who gets excited to go to the doctor! He was great! Played and listened well in the waiting room..... Got on the scale like a champ.... and then of course his usual showing off for the nurse and Dr. Conner.

Tyler weighs in now at 25.8 lbs putting him in the 20th percentile for weight (I think that is what she said) and is 34.4 inches tall putting him in the 40th percentile for height. Our peanut is still a peanut. But he is healthy, has a good appetite and his growth chart shows consistant growth since birth. Dr. Conner was most impressed with Tyler's speech as he did such a wonderful job talking her ear off. He did a great job of saying as many words and sentances as he could. And even a little bit of his "crazy side". All in all it was a great visit, complete with NO shots for once :)

Sometimes I still can't believe he is TWO.... how blessed we are to have a such a precious miracle.

air zoo

Couple weekends ago while we had a break from all the snow and storming, we decided would be a good time to drive down to Portage and visit the Air Zoo. As a the typical extroadinary boy Tyler is, he LOVES air planes.

Althought he may not have understood the history of it all, I think it helped put into perspective just how big these things really are! They also had a hot air balloon and bi-plane ride that he was big enough to go on with one of us. He is STILL talking about going on the hot air balloon with Mommy and Daddy :)

It was a really fun day and so nice to spend some quality family time together. Hopefully we can go back this summer with more of our family and make a day of it!

fun at gymnastics.....

Saturday night we met the Gallaghers and VanderMolens at For the Kidz for open gym night. As much as Tyler loves to run, jump, bounce, crash and monkey around, I thought he would have a pretty good time - I did NOT know he would have as much fun as he did! He had a total blast and NO FEAR at all. There was a foam pit that had about a 4 foot mat that you jump from, and apprently he thought it would be fun to RUN and JUMP into the foam pit. No fear I tell you! They also had this inflatable obsticale course that he wanted NOTHING to do with, until Allen and I conviced him he should try it. Well it only took one time through and then it was like pulling teeth telling him we had to go :( There was SO much fun little stuff there.....toddler sized trampolines, balance beems, running tramp, and even a little climbing steps with a slide. It was a great place to take a monkey like mine and I can't wait to bring him again - This time with my camera!!!

proud mama....

I meant to post these couple of things when they happened, but with Tyler being such a busy body, those kinds of things just don't happen anymore!

As some or you know, "Santa" brought Tyler his very own big boy potty for Christmas. Well about a week ago, Allen notice that Tyler was making his "poop" face while hanging out in the basement. He quick grabbed him, ran him upstairs, whipped off his pants and diaper and sat him on the potty. Sure enough, he actually pooped on the potty for the first time!!! I don't think I have ever seen Allen so proud. And Tyler got rewarded with a sticker.

Yesterday morning I was getting Tyler ready to leave and had gotten all his winter gear on. He saw my coat laying there and says "Mommy, coat on." So I put my coat. Then he says "Mommy, button coat". So I am buttoning up my coat, and as I am doing so, Tyler decided he was going to count my buttons "one, two, free, four....YAY!" It was SO stinking cute and was so proud for him counting on his own!
